Why should you vote if you live abroad?

What the Government back in the UK decides can have a big effect on your life as a British Citizen living overseas.

Clearly, Brexit is the obvious example of this - but there are many other issues that can affect you as a citizen - access to consular services, obtaining visas for family to resettle in the UK, access to higher education and pensions.

Governments to date have not taken much notice of overseas citizens but now 3.5 million of us are eligible to vote - this should change. Although our first-past-the-post voting system means that your influence will depend on where you were last living, there are many constituencies where the number of overseas voters will be greater than the winning margin at the last election.

Governments will pay more attention to the needs of overseas citizens if more vote. Register now and make your vote count!
